Yathras were undertaken to popular temples in India. This increased the contact between the two countries and created awareness on events taking place in Indian temples. These trips also provided an opportunity for the locals to visit new temples and fulfill their vows.

However, not everyone was endowed with the good fortune to travel abroad. Some affluent and rich devotees were able to take this opportunity and travel abroad. Being mindful of this, the Aadheenam brought new deities for the temple, so that the less fortunate may perform their vows.
