THAI POOSAM

On Thai Poosam, goddess Durga presented Lord Shanmuga with the Vel which he used in the battle with demon Surapathman. In Mavai, on this auspicious day, Lord Skantha is placed on a chariot and taken round the temple. New harvested rice, from the paddy fields belonging to the temple are cooked on this day and distributed freely to all.
