NATHASWARAM

The Mavai temple had a team of eminent Nathaswaram players. On ther festival, this music troupe plays in front of Lord Shanmuga and is honored by the temple management. The artistes are a closed group and very seldom allow outsiders to play in their patch.

On one occasion, a troupe of nathaswaram players from India requested to perform in the temple. However, the local troupe levied so many conditions, that the outsiders could not comply and gave up.
